Where To Next?

This weekend, Abby and I met Abby’s former coworker and good friend, Barbara, out for dinner, and it was so good to reunite with her and catch up. We got on the topic of traveling and where our recent travels have taken us. The last international trip I took was to London, England and Croatia. If you give me the opportunity to talk about my trip to Croatia, I certainly will. It’s an indescribable feeling as to why I am so captivated by my time there. I feel as though a part of me is forever glued there. Our core group of friends who went can say the same. Every memory made there is clear as day, and I cannot wait to go back. I’ve travelled around the world and have been able to check different locations off my list, but Croatia is the one place I would go back to in a heartbeat and not feel a pull to go somewhere new if presented with that option.

The timing of that trip was during a significant transition and season of my life. I quit my recruiting job and had a couple of months off in between starting my current job. It was also just before COVID broke out globally. That trip was a commemoration of celebrating the close of old chapters and the start of new chapters. I did not know what to expect for my future, but I felt so alive and present on that trip. I was overcome by peace knowing I was exactly where I was supposed to be in that point in time. Ask me any time about Croatia because I have plenty of recommendations to give and stories to tell. I am convinced that a movie should be made about our time there. I can never listen to “Dance Monkey” by Tones and I without vividly picturing our ocean cliff-jumping day where I heard that song for the first time, which then turned into our theme song of the trip. We experienced Croatia to the fullest during off-season that I cannot imagine how much more fun it is during peak-season.

The background header image on the home page of my blog is taken from top of the hillside of Dubrovnik, Croatia overlooking the coast. Pictured below is a never-before-seen photo from my camera roll of Croatia. It was taken in Dubrovnik minutes after we dropped all of our bags in our rooms and walked down to the shoreline to get a glimpse of the port town. Dubrovnik was my absolute favorite!

I want to start planning my next international trip, so please let me know your suggestions on where to go visit! This is your sign to go somewhere where your soul feels most alive and happiest. As summer comes to an end, start planning a vacation, a staycation, or a day off to give your body, mind, and soul, a well-deserved reset.

Remember to stay humble and kind, always!
