Twenty Seven

Last week I celebrated my birthday and turned 27. There were all sorts of emotions on my birthday, which I want to recap below.

This was my first birthday being away from family after moving. There’s a Spanish tradition where you lightly get your ear lobes tugged at for the number of times of the age you are turning while counting each year out loud. It’s a silly tradition, but one that I wouldn’t know I would miss until I didn’t get to experience it on the morning of my birthday.

Both my Aia (grandma) and mom both got married when they were 26. I grew up wanting to carry on that tradition. However, that time has officially passed. I was always so set on a timeline of when I wanted to get married and start a family, but recently I have been overcome with a sense of peace in where I am at in life. There is so much life left to live. I am letting these monumental seasons of my life unfold in their own divine timing.

My 26th year was filled with my own unique milestones. I got promoted at my job. I celebrated the 1-year anniversary of my blog launch. I travelled to Las Vegas, Nevada for the first time with my family. I met two of my favorite celebrities: Scotty McCreery and Sasha Farber. The biggest milestone to sum up my 26th year would be relocating from New Hampshire to live in the sunshine state of Florida with two of my best friends! 26 treated me so well.

I was able to ring in turning 27 with my best friends who made me feel extremely special and loved. Haley was able to fly down, go to Disney with me, and experienced my new home and favorite spots, such as Flannigan’s Seafood Bar and Grill. The night before my birthday, Haley cooked her famous French onion soup for 324, which was delicious. Abby and Carol surprised 324 with Crumbl cookies for dessert, and the line up of flavors were delectable!

I took the day of my birthday off. I feel as though the New Hampshire weather paid us a visit because the entire day was cool and overcast. It was the first day I could wear a jacket in Florida. To start the day off, we drove to the beach, treated to coffee by my favorite baristas at Deke’s in Delray, (which was so kind), and then treated to brunch at The Hive Bakery & Café by my mom. I highly recommend visiting there if you are ever in the West Palm Beach, FL area. It gave off a Savannah, Georgia feel. Haley and I explored The Hive’s furniture store next door and met the sweetest local florists who gave us suggestions of places to visit after I mentioned I recently moved to the area.

We ventured back home and along the way, drove through The Breakers Luxury Palm Beach Resort, and picked up a complimentary Starbucks refresher, which was so refreshing — no pun intended, LOL. I opened some presents and heard from so many wonderful friends and family both near and far. I could truly feel the love all around me. We spent the night grabbing Hibachi for dinner where I was treated by my best friends and surrounded and celebrated by more incredible friends that night. It was a night full of laughter. We also enjoyed a night cap at Jeremiah’s Italian Ice for dessert. I could not have asked for a more enjoyable day.

I flew home for a wedding the day after my birthday, and was greeted and surprised at the airport by my parents holding up numerical “27” balloons, and taken out for dinner after I landed. Pictured below are my parents from that night. It was so lovely! I wrapped up my birthday week with a surprise visit from my brother, and a pizza and ice-cream cake party with my immediate family, grandparents, aunt, and uncle.

If 27 started out this great, then I am thrilled for what is to come. Cheers to new milestones, adventures, and another trip around the sun. I am so thankful, grateful, and blessed for my surroundings and connections.

Remember to stay humble and kind, always!
