Spring Break Wrap Up
Welcome to part 2 of adventures with Jess the Tour Guide. Last week, I talked about part 1 of the spring break trip happenings that can be read here: https://www.jessicapuchacz.com/post/fun-in-the-florida-sun
Kicking off the second leg of the trip included even more jam-packed fun detailed below.
Tuesday we went to Makeb's Bagels in West Palm Beach for breakfast. For my New Hampshire readers, nowhere will ever compare to Bagel Cafe. If you know, you know! Nonetheless, these bagels were the best I have tried in south Florida. We walked around West Palm Beach's outdoor shopping and food center called Rosemary Square. The scenery is beautiful there, from the elegant staircases to the whimsical fountains. We grabbed some scrumptious donuts from The Salty Donut, and headed back to my complex for some pool time. I highly recommend trying their brown butter and salt donut. It is so decadent and the perfect combination of salty and sweet.
We lounged by my pool, which feels like you are in a tropical resort. We got some tanning time and a hot tub session in before getting ready for one of the best parts of the trip. Sven took my parents, Michael, his girlfriend Abby, my roommates Abby and Carol, and I out on a sunset boat ride. It was a boat ride full of cheer and laughter while eyeing the stunning waterfront properties in amazement. Captains Sven and Bill led a great expedition! Thank you to Sven for coordinating such a memorable time for us out on the water! Pictured below is my family and Michael's girlfriend Abby, and I on the boat.
To cap the night off, we all ventured to downtown Delray Beach to grab dinner. Spring Breakers flooded the streets, and the wait times at restaurants were steep. We put our name in at many spots, and whoever called us first was going to be the winner! An Italian restaurant called, Elisabetta's Ristorante was where we wined and dined that evening. It was my first time there, and I cannot wait to go back. It was a stunning two-story restaurant that emulated a chic and Gatsby-like sophistication. We all laughed endlessly telling so many stories and catching up with each other all while enjoying delicious food and drinks. I will go back simply for their homemade sour dough bread and caesar salad.
My family and Abby's final day in Florida was spent starting out eating at Mission BBQ. If you have not read my blog post about my first experience at Mission BBQ, please do so at: https://www.jessicapuchacz.com/post/feels-like-home
We walked in and were greeted by the nicest man, who explained the whole menu for my family and Abby, who were first-time customers. He even offered us samples of any food we would like to try before committing to ordering it. He was very thorough, friendly, polite, and patient. When the food came out, he checked up on us throughout the meal to make sure we were doing ok, even though this was an establishment where there are no designated servers. The food was superb. I had a brisket sandwich and cheesy potatoes, my mom had a pulled pork entree with corn bread, Michael and Abby split a brisket sandwich and hand-cut french fries, and my dad had smoked ribs, hand-cut french fries, and coleslaw. Michael and I tried locally bottled root beer and vanilla root beer too. The kind gentleman attending to us during our time there opened the door for us on our way out, and wished my family and Abby well on their travels back to New Hampshire. He was so sweet, and I have nothing but excellent words to say about Boynton Beach's Mission BBQ's location and each of my encounters there.
We wrapped up the day walking around downtown Delray Beach, and finished the trip off with Whit's Frozen Custard. It is the creamiest and tastiest treat that I hope you all get to try out some day. I love ice cream, and this is my newfound favorite spot! We drove along the scenic beach coast back to drop me off, and did not say our 'goodbyes,' but instead our 'see you laters.'

I love my family to pieces and I was so fortunate to have spent quality time with them showing them around. I was able to give them a glimpse of my new Floridian life, and we all made lasting memories. 324 misses you all already. Until next time!
Remember to stay humble and kind, always!
