Solo Date

I am on vacation all this week, which has not happened in a very long time. Having so much free time is not normal in my routine, so it feels excellent to relax with not a worry in my mind. When is your next day off?

To kick off my vacation, I took myself out on a date today. I am flying to Florida this week to visit two of my best friends, and I am attending a wedding next weekend, so I drove to the Burlington Mall in Massachusetts this afternoon for some much needed retail therapy. Do you enjoy long road trips? I thrive taking long drives, and blasting my favorite music while pretending I am performing my own concert. My family tells me to keep my day job – LOL. I wish I could sing, but it is certainly not one of my talents!

I had a successful shopping trip and purchased some new bathing suits for Florida! After a couple hours of shopping, I headed to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch. Cheesecake is one of my favorite desserts, and it is always a treat when I am in the area. I could have ordered takeout and brought the food to my car to eat, but I had no hesitation sitting at the bar by myself to eat a delicious meal. I put my phone away and enjoyed my own company. I chatted with the bartender and people watched. If you asked me a few years ago if I would go and dine in by myself, I would not have believed you.

When you are fully confident in yourself, your energy can captivate an entire room. I am a very independent person, and I love going out to eat with family and friends, but there is just something so peaceful and empowering about eating out alone and not needing any additional company. Following my meal, I ordered some cheesecakes and cakes to-go for my family, and I survived the 5 o’clock rush-hour traffic on my drive home.

Now I am sitting here writing this post, and reflecting on the day I had. I loved every second of it, and it was such a productive and lovely time. Take yourself out on a date and make time for you! Making time for yourself is so incredibly important whether you are single or in a relationship. There is no time limit on activities when you are in charge. Take initiative and plan the greatest day because you know your interests best. You know what you bring to the table, so prioritize having a blast independently from time to time. Soak in being comfortable in your own thoughts, and go plan a solo date!
