Fun in the Florida Sun
The Puchacz's have arrived in Florida! My brother and his girlfriend Abby flew down, as it is their spring break, with my parents to visit me in Florida! I took on the role of Tour Guide Jess, and am showing them all of my favorite spots. After a rocky start of endless flight and rental car delays, we got to kick off their stay with lunch on my local beach. They got to experience my sunny "winter" weather.
Morgan Wallen summed it up perfectly in his lyrics in his song 7 Summers: "Yeah you used to talk about getting even further south – somewhere where the summer lasted all year round." I always talked about living away from the snow, and I made it happen! 90 degree weather in March – yes please!
We finished night one strong at Flanigan's Seafood Bar and Grill, which is a south Florida staple, and one of our favorite spots. My bestie and roommate Abby accompanied us for a fun-filled evening at Flanigan's. The food was excellent, and the restaurant was decked out in St. Patrick's Day decor. We capped the night off at Square Grouper Tiki Bar, which is on the Jupiter, FL inlet. We sat right along the water and spotted so many fish on the shoreline.
Today, we kicked off the day with breakfast at First Watch, a local breakfast chain. For anyone from New Hampshire, it resembles Tucker's! It is delicious farm-fresh food. We hopped in the car and headed even further south to Miami, FL where we took a safari boat tour in the Everglades at Everglades Safari Park. We got to see so much wildlife deep into the Everglades including alligators, many tropical birds, and turtles. The boat tour was followed by an alligator show with four alligators. My favorite one was named Bubba. He smiled for us, and is pictured below. The alligator trainer also brought out a baby alligator and a boa constrictor for us to see. We finished the experience off with a nature trail where we stumbled across more alligators and crocodiles.
Next, we headed to Wynwood Art District in Miami. It is a must-see neighborhood if you are in the area. The graffiti murals are ever-changing and breathtaking to see. We ate lunch at one of my go-to's, Bartaco, which never disappoints.
We finished off the night walking down South Beach in Miami and people watching. We saw a snippet of some drag queens performing, who are incredibly talented. What's Miami without a sweet treat? We indulged in ice cream cookie sandwiches and nitrogen goblet drinks at The Sugar Factory.
The fun has just begun surrounded by excellent company. Tune into next week's blog post to see how the rest of their time spent here with me went. Wishing you a fun-filled week!
