Creating Peaceful Moments

I believe we have all, at one time or another, lived a chaotic life. Your schedule can become busy, your mind can be flooded with a mental to-do list, etc. Whenever you feel like you cannot catch a breath, stop for a moment or two and seek out a glimmer of peace and tranquility.


Some of my fantastic coworkers host a weekly guided meditation. I have popped into it a couple of times in the last handful of weeks, and have found so much value in taking a breather in the workday. There have been many times where I skipped joining the weekly meditation solely due to needing all the time I can get in my day to accomplish tasks, and maximize my schedule. Out of those couple sessions I popped into recently, it only took 5-10 minutes out of my day. I realized that even though my schedule can be chaotic at times, everybody has 5-10 minutes – especially if it is for a mindful meditation reset. These meditations have brought me into a state of peace where I sink into my chair and feel calm, relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready to continue on with my day in a better state of mind.


Yesterday, Abby, Carol, and I found ourselves in an on-going loop of busyness that was out of our control. It felt great to plant ourselves down and enjoy some well-deserved socialization with our friends that evening. Abby glanced outside and pointed out just how stunning the sun was. Amidst a chaotic afternoon, we unplugged from the world and soaked in the vibrant sunset, which is pictured below. Sunsets are gone in a matter of minutes, so being able to tune into the beauty of it was such a peaceful moment.

There will always be something needed to accomplish in any given day. Your schedules may become hectic and unplanned in certain circumstances. Listen to your body and mind of when you need to slow down. Consciously make an effort to create daily peaceful moments, so that chaotic times do not sweep you up.
